Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders: Borrowdale Academy’s 2026 Prefects Training and Investiture Ceremony
Last week on Friday, the serene and picturesque grounds of Rare Gold in Glen Forest played host to a defining moment in our school calendar: the Borrowdale Academy International School Prefects Training and Investiture Ceremony.
Under the powerful and guiding theme, “Leadership God’s Way,” our newly appointed student leaders stepped into their roles with a sense of dedication, faith, and a clear call to service. It was a spectacular day filled with intensive learning, spiritual enrichment, and joyous celebration, witnessed by proud parents, family members, and staff.
The Core Takeaway: Integrity & Vision with a Purpose
Throughout the workshops, discussions, and keynote addresses, two defining insights rose above all others as the ultimate keys to successful leadership: leading with integrity and being inspired by a vision with a purpose.
Our student leaders learned that true leadership isn’t about the authority of a badge or the prestige of a title; it is about who you are when no one is watching, and where you are guiding those who follow you. To lead “God’s Way” means aligning actions with strong moral principles while remaining driven by a clear, meaningful mission. The prefects were challenged to understand that when leadership is anchored in unwavering integrity and inspired by a purposeful vision, it has the power to positively transform our entire school community.
Interactive Team Building & Leadership Training
The day commenced with an energetic and highly interactive workshop facilitated by Emmanuel Marozva.
With a dynamic approach to leadership development, Mr. Marozva led our prefects through a series of hands-on team-building activities designed to test their communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. The students laughed, strategized, and quickly realized that a team can only stand strong and move forward when it is united by a shared, purposeful vision and built on a foundation of mutual trust and honesty.
The Leadership Conference – Words of Wisdom
Following the physical and mental warm-ups, the students gathered for a deeply impactful Leadership Conference featuring a stellar lineup of guest speakers:
Rev. Ndamba unpacked the core theme, “Leadership God’s Way.” He challenged the prefects to lead with humility, empathy, and a servant’s heart, reminding them that integrity is the heartbeat of moral leadership, and a God-given vision is its compass.
Mr. Zulu addressed the vital role of discipline in schools. He spoke about how true discipline is not about policing others, but about self-control, accountability, and modeling the very integrity and purpose we expect to see in classmates.
Mollet (Former Head Girl) brought an inspiring, relatable perspective. She shared candid stories from her own leadership journey at Borrowdale Academy and offered invaluable advice on transitioning into life after high school, encouraging the prefects to let a purpose-driven vision guide them in the wider world.
The Investiture Ceremony
The climax of the day was the formal Investiture Ceremony. Under the watchful and proud eyes of their parents, guardians, and teachers, the newly minted prefects officially took their oaths of office.
There was a palpable sense of pride in the air as each student was called forward to receive their symbols of authority:
The Prefect’s Badge – a symbol of their responsibility.
The Prefect’s Tie – a badge of honor and unity.
The Official Certificate – marking their commitment to service.
Seeing our students stand tall, ready to serve their peers and represent Borrowdale Academy with honor, was a deeply moving moment for everyone in attendance.
A Message to Our New Leaders
“To our newly inaugurated prefects: leadership is not about being first; it is about putting others first. As you wear your badges and ties, carry the values of Borrowdale Academy with pride. Lead with love, guide with discipline, and always remember to lead with integrity, inspired by a vision with a purpose. We believe in you and cannot wait to see the positive impact you will make this year!”
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the management of Rare Gold, our facilitator, guest speakers, and the wonderful parents whose unwavering support made this event a resounding success.
